Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Lyon County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive basic technical and usage details about the visit:
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
- A referring site, when one is supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure traffic, popular pages, and visitor flow. Analytics services may combine those measurements into aggregate reports. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, though certain features may then work differently.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lyon County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general access information for LCSO Records, local court clerks, the Nevada State Police Records Bureau, and the Nevada Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories, and this private resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the selected provider's policy rather than this policy. Each partner decides its own retention, processing, and sharing practices. Read those terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to LCSO, Lyon County courts, Nevada agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy terms control that visit. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across different websites for ad selection. Lyon County Criminal History does not control that external tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- The search provider selected to process a query
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve page advertisements
- A government body when disclosure is compelled by valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under the operator's control. No internet system is completely secure, however, so absolute protection against every breach cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. When the operator learns that such information was submitted, it will be removed as required.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal information held by this private operator. A visitor may make the following requests, subject to identity verification and legal limits:
- Request access to personal information held about them
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request deletion where retention is not legally required
- Opt out of processing when applicable law supplies that choice
These visitor requests are distinct from government-record rights. The Nevada Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, governs access to qualifying records held by public custodians. NRS Chapter 179A separately governs dissemination, subject inspection, and challenges involving Nevada criminal-history records. Neither law turns this private resource into a government records office.
